Staying Warm & Enjoying Fall!
Fall is a beautiful season full of colorful leaves, cool breezes, pumpkin pies, and apple cider. When you walk outside you are met with the crisp cool air bringing to you the scent of Fall. It dances on the chilly wind that fights to get inside your coat and falls around you in the leaves, finally leaving their trees. You know that Fall is in the air when you are no longer wearing tee-shirts and shorts, but are instead pulling long-forgotten sweaters off hangers in the back of your closet. You know that Fall is here when you step outside and you finally realize that your sandals must now give way to your warm tennis shoes and boots. You know Fall is here when you have to bundle yourself up every time you go outside.
Build A Campfire!
Do you enjoy being outside, but are tired of putting so many layers on, and still feeling cold? Maybe you’re unsure what to do in this chilly weather, or how to have fun outside when it’s so cold. Well (if it is possible…), build a campfire! Get your family together one evening, start a fire, and get supplies for s’mores! Have a fun evening of sitting by a toasty campfire, and cooking some delicious s’mores. But if you can’t have a campfire at your house, find some friends that can at theirs, and organize a fun night with friends by a campfire while eating s’mores!
Take A Hike!
Now, to some, this won’t sound exciting at first, but trust me, once you get out in the beautiful fall colors, you’ll see how fun it can be! You can get your family together for a hike, and you can invite friends to come along too! Find somewhere to hike, like Bean Blossom, McCormick’s Creek State Park, or Griffy Lake, as just a few selections. Have fun in God’s beautiful creation, and pack some snacks and water to have along the way. If you’re not quite up for a long walk like that, go to a park and have fun with friends.
Board Game Time!
Cozy up at the table or on some couches, with blankets, board games or card games, and some hot cocoa! Have fun spending quality time with family and friends, staying warm from the outdoor chill, and wiping the dust off of your board game skills!
I hope you enjoy these three ideas for staying warm and enjoying the season of Fall, and maybe they will spark some more ideas of some family fun you can have together. Although you may enjoy the warmer seasons, taking time away from your normal schedule to take a walk outside and marvel at God’s creation can be truly wonderful and eye-opening to see the glory of our Creator.
Psalm 19:1-2 tells us that,
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”
